I can’t even describe how awesome this week has been. The week ramped up day by day. We started with classes as usual at 12 pm everyday, but then some of our friends had a bright idea to make a new tradition called “Taco Tuesdays”. There I had the best beef tacos (I ate 7) and some good refreshments. Dinner was great and I met some new and old friends, but it was the start to something great. We ended the night with a nice ice cream at “Maccas” (McDonalds)
Wednesday Trev’s parents came to town and this is where it really started to get fun. We had a nice Italian dinner at Totti’s and the food was just so good. I’m talking about 16 oz ribeye, pasta on pasta on pasta, fresh tomato and cucumber with burrata. Everything was so flavorful, but the food wasn’t even the best part. Talking with Trev’s mom was so cool. She graduated from Bucknell in 92’ and absolutely still loves it. It was a mix of life advice and learning about stories of Trev and recapping what we’ve done so far. It was amazing.
Then we hit Friday which was the most fun day. We randomly decided to buy tickets to go to a rave later that night. I’ve never been to one before so I didn’t know what to expect, but I do like EDM and house music. So, we got to the venue and I would say that one thing I’ve come to learn in Australia is that everyone is super nice. The bouncer pulled us aside I guess because we don’t have a local ID or something and they were super nice, which was a pleasant surprise compared to the bouncers back home. We get in and the music is awesome. You can feel the base through your entire body. Everyone is happy and having a great time. We are with the Taco Tuesday group. It’s just great. We roll out of the venue at 4 am after just dancing all night and my friend looks down at his apple watch and see’s he has burned 700 calories.
Then Saturday Trev’s parents charter a boat, and when I say it was the best way to continue the weekend, it was awesome. First, I almost missed the boat and completely missed out. I sprinted across the harbor to catch them and finally got on. The boat took off and we saw amazing views of the opera house and bridge. We sailed around in the sun catching rays and eating good cheeses, fruit, and dips. We passed million dollar mansions on the coast and saw where early settlers landed and set up camp. Then we anchor down. We have the speaker going playing good tunes and we jumped off the boat doing dives, flips, and cannonballs. I personally tried a double flip and smacked the water so hard. Great conversations with friends and it all continued as we went to Watsons Bay for dinner. The vibes were so good we shared lots of laughs, but I remember most talking to Trev’s dad about his story of moving from life in finance to owning a professional soccer team. He told me it’s all about community and shared some crazy and great stories about his 7 years and of it. We said goodbye to the Trevisani and headed home with some good laughs in the Uber back.
