Aussi, Aussi Aussi

This week started off with a bang. Monday was Australia Day and class was on zoom. It was really nice, but unfortunately Ive experienced the worst weather so far on my journey. Yet, even the bad weather is nicer than whatever is back home. This week was full of learning moments in and out of the class so here is a compilation.

  1. Australian history is very similar to American, yet we are so different.
    • The British colonialist time has shaped both the US and Australia, yet we founded America on value of freedom and democracy and I find it hard to grasp what value the Australian have chosen when founding the country (maybe mate ship or niceness)
  2. Check if your food is expired before you cook it
    • I cooked a steak in the middle of the week only to find out the day after it was expired and felt ill. This was after I mocked Trev for undercooking his chicken.

This week I also learned a lot about myself. I journey around doing things just by myself and it was awesome. I went and had lunch at a cafe outdoor in Bondi and people watched while listing to music. It was the most peaceful and relaxing time. I walked up to north Bondi to look at the houses and look over the ocean. I listened to my favorite recent songs (Preoccupied by Mac DeMarco) very peaceful and a great time to reflect 21 day into this experience.
