Week 4 Blog-Sunday in Melbourne

Last Sunday in Melbourne was a perfect mix of history, culture, and exploration. The morning started with breakfast at a cafe called Krimper in Melbourne’s CBD. We then made our way over to Queen Victoria Market, a vibrant marketplace that was filled with fresh produce and unique Australian-made goods. The market was alive with energy, filled with locals and tourists who were going from shop to shop.

After spending some time at the market, I made my way to ACMI(Australian Centre for the Moving Image). As someone who enjoys film and media, this was the highlight of my day. The museum was open to the public for free and it was a very unique experience. The exhibition covered from the first projections to the first film ever made to beyond. It was filled with interactive and immersive activities that were engaging. I especially enjoyed seeing old film reels while also learning about Australia’s impact on the global film industry.

After the exhibition, I decided to take a walk around the city. Melbourne’s streets were a lot similar to those in Europe and they were a blend of historic architecture, modern skyscrapers, and hidden alleys with street art. As I had some time left over before heading to the airport, I made my way over to Port Melbourne to enjoy Melbourne one last time before leaving. It was a Sunday well spent.
