Week 5 In Sydney

This past week was another great time in sunny Sydney. While back at school my fellow Bucknellians were dealing with Snow and freezing rain, we were lucky enough to have good weather for the week. It was great to start our second set or block or classes with good weather. Having a different set of classes makes my routine a little different and avoids things becoming stagnant. Overall the start to my new classes has been great. Also this past week we got to experience the super bowl in a different country. Being from Philadelphia I was hoping for an eagles victory. Thankfully (for eagles fans) it wasn’t much of a game and the Birds were able to be the only team in the NFL to end the season with a win. It was interesting to see how much the game has grown and the interest it had from the people of Sydney. While it wasn’t the spectacle and event that it is in the United States, it was still a crowded sports bar at 10:30am on a Monday. See pictures of my friends and family attending the parade was great, while it does make me miss home a little, I just remind myself that it is snowing there and its sunny and 80 here. So far the program has been great and it continued with a tour of the Sydney Opera House, arguably the most iconic theater in the world, it was a fascinating tour and we were able to see the inside and the different rooms and theaters. It was incredible to see the worlds largest pipe organ which had over 10,000 pipes that ranged from the size of a drinking stray to the size of a 3 story building. My roommates and I are hoping to see a show at some point before leaving. Finally, over the weekend I was able to go to a new beach for the first time camp cove which was about 35 minutes north of our accommodations. It had stunning views of the city and had clear enough water for you to see the fish swimming at your feet. It was clearly a local spot and had significantly less people than the other bigger beaches like Bondi. It was a great way to spend a Saturday. Overall another great week in Sydney!
