I can’t believe it’s already been five weeks since I arrived in Sydney! Time is flying by, and each week brings new experiences and adventures. This past week was especially memorable as my suite mates and I celebrated Valentine’s Day in the most fun and unconventional way—karaoke, and I spoke with my family and saw my cat and got some pictures as well!
For me, valentine’s Day is often associated with romantic dinners, flowers, and chocolates, but this year, I got to experience something different. Instead of focusing on traditional celebrations, my suite mates and I decided to make it all about friendship, fun, talking with my family and having them put my cat on the video call and music. We headed to Sydney Karaoke, a popular spot known for its lively atmosphere and an endless selection of songs.
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by neon lights, cozy private rooms, and an energy that was contagious. We picked a room, grabbed the microphones, and scrolled through the massive song list. From classic love ballads to upbeat pop hits, we sang our hearts out without a care in the world. There was something incredibly freeing about belting out lyrics, laughing at our off-key notes, and cheering each other on. The highlight of the night was when we all sang our hearts out to Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance with Somebody—a true anthem of joy and celebration.
What made the night even more special was the sense of togetherness. Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romantic love; it’s about all kinds of love, including friendship. In just five weeks, my suite mates and I have built a strong bond, turning what started as strangers sharing a space into a family away from home. That night at Sydney Karaoke, we celebrated not only Valentine’s Day but also our friendship, our journey, and the unforgettable memories we are creating in Sydney.
As I reflect on my time here so far, I feel incredibly grateful for these experiences. Who knows what the next weeks will bring? If they are anything like this one, I know they will be filled with laughter, adventure, and the magic of Sydney!
