Week 6 in Sydney

This week I did not travel to Hunter’s Valley with the rest of the Bucknell crew, but instead stayed in Sydney with my visiting parents.

This weekend, I spent an amazing time in Sydney with my parents, exploring some of the city’s most beautiful coastal spots and enjoying great food along the way. It was the perfect mix of relaxation, sightseeing, and quality time together.

On Saturday, we took the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly Beach, one of Sydney’s most iconic seaside destinations. The ferry ride itself was a highlight, offering stunning views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge. When we arrived, the beach was buzzing with surfers, families, and tourists enjoying the sunshine even with rougher conditions. After a stroll along the sand, we wandered through the Manly Market, a vibrant collection of stalls selling everything from handmade jewelry to local artwork. My mom, who loves collecting art, found a beautiful painting of the Bondi pools that she couldn’t resist.

The next day, we set out on the coastal walk from Bronte to Coogee, a breathtaking trail along Sydney’s eastern coastline. The weather was perfect—clear blue skies and a cool sea breeze. Along the way, we stopped to take photos of the dramatic cliffs, rock pools, and golden beaches. Bronte Beach was lively with swimmers and sunbathers, while Tamarama had a younger crowd. As we continued, we paused at Waverley Cemetery, which offers one of the most scenic ocean views of any cemetery in the world. Finally, we reached Coogee Beach, where we relaxed with a cold drink before heading back to our hotel.

To end the weekend on a high note, we had dinner in Double Bay at Margaret’s, a well-known seafood restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious—my dad ordered the signature fish dish, while I tried their fresh oysters. The elegant yet cozy atmosphere made it the perfect spot to reflect on our wonderful weekend.

Sydney never disappoints, and this trip with my parents was one to remember.
