Byron Bay and a Birthday

In another spectacular week of life in Australia, this one started with a bang.

Monday, February 24th, 2025 was the day I turned 21 years old and what a day it was. It started as usual, with class at 8 am (booooo) and to add a little salt in that wound I had a huge quiz in International Finance (double booooo). Yet, after that I hoped on the train popped in my AirPods and blasted my favorite songs on the train ride home. When I got back to the apartment I was greeted with a big “Happy Birthday you BEAST” by Trev. This just lit up my face with a smile. He proposed that we go down to Bondi Beach and spend the rest of the day soaking in the sun and then he’d buy my dinner that night and that’s exactly what we did. He bought me a bottle of wine and a T-bone steak. I couldn’t have asked for a better day from the birthday wishes from the people I am close too and a relaxing day.

The week gets even better as at the end of the week my friends and I pack our bags into a truck and head on the 8 hour drive up to Byron Bay. The trip up is filled with car games like wavelength, ranking our favorite things, and great roadtrip music (Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, etc). We stop for the night at a campsite and it was here I had the worse night of sleep I have ever had in the car.

The next day we arrived in Byron and this place was so sick. Complete surfer vibe and the beaches are absolutely beautiful. We tried swimming at the famous Wategos beach and the water was not friendly. We got caught in a rip current and were fighting for our lives to get out. This was the hardest part of the weekend. The rest of the weekend was filled with great food at restaurants where I had the best wings and the best lamb I have ever had. Also it was filled with more great music and a piano live music place.

The drive back was great as we took scenic drives along the coast, but by the time I got back to Sydney I was completely drained.

This week was a great week to sit back and reflect on my past year. The good, the bad, the lessons, and the future.
