Fantastic Food Frenzy

On this episode of what’s going on in the life of David.

Food

This week was filled with the most amazing food. It started on Tuesday when my coworkers took me to a hawker center. I got duck and rice for 4 bucks. That it actually insane. In the US I am spending at least 20 bucks on a meal let alone on some duck. It’s just unreal. It tasted so good too. The only thing I would knock is the portion size, but that’s just my fat American super size me self talking. Then after we went to get Kopi which is their word for coffee and it is so good. They use sugar and condensed milk and it’s a game changer. It’s actually so much better than American coffee. The next day we went to don don donkey were I got a meal for 11 bucks. It was prawn and rice with Japanese mayo with beef skewers. Absolutely insane. I don’t even know what to say about the food other than phenomenal.

The highlight of the week was when me and Trev went to hot pot. Hot pot was a life changing experience. We came in having no clue what we were doing. Then a nice older gentlemen came over and described it to use in gestures as there was a bit of a language barrier. Me and Trev immediately understood the assignment after that. We spent easily 2 hours in the restaurant devouring plates of beef, chicken, pork, and noodles. The worst part was the super spicy broth that we ordered. It was like eating lava and it made your ears ring it was so spicy. NOTE TO SELF: don’t order spicy if they ask. Then they brought us two mini cakes and sang us a song and a plate of fruit. The service was absolute phenomenal and I will be back.

The snack culture is also insane. During the week I tried curry puffs. They are my new favorite snack. They are potato, and egg and curry in a puff pastry. it’s so flaky and tasty and I could eat 8 in a sitting. Also the chocolate waffles here are soooooo good. I wouldn’t be surprised if I gained 10-15 pounds in 8 weeks. There’s so much more to try and I am starving just writing this.

Now time to talk about work.

Work is pretty cool. I really like my coworkers. We usually talk about stuff to do around or our differences in cultures. I am doing customer experience on their digital team where they are developing a trading platform for the retail traders. It pretty cool stuff. This week I finished up all my work and they staffed me on a huge project. It sucked so much but I guess it was good excel practice. I also ran over 8 miles this week and picked up a new hobby of playing tennis. It’s really fun whooping Trev’s butt and a great workout.
