Week 11 was a great week.
Work went well this week and I enjoyed spending time with my team. I am slowly getting more responsibility in the office which is making me feel like I am making a greater impact. This feeling of contribution drives me to work harder as I feel the work means something, as such I am enjoying this increased responsibility.
The highlight of the week though was our long weekend. March 31st marked the end of Ramadan, a day which is called Harri Raya. Harri Raya marks the end of fasting and is celebrated as a national holiday in singapore. This means that we got Monday off! On our day off we went to Sentosa island, which is a resort island on singapore’s south coast. Sentosa is home to a number of cool attractions including bungee jumping, indoor skydiving, and many more. There is even a universal studio on the island home to some really cool roller coasters. We didn’t go to Universal this time though, we did the luge. For those who may not know, a luge is essentially a downhill go-kart track in which you ride in carts which don’t have engines. The karts have a break and 3 wheels and it is essential you lean in corners so the kart may flip over. I had a fantastic time on the luge, such a good time we decided to do it 4 times. Equally cool was the chair lift back to the top of the course, as it was a high vantage and provided a good view of the harbor.
We also went to the famous botanic gardens of Singapore. It was awesome to see the vertical gardens which are so iconic. The plants were great to see but even cooler were the exhibits. Thousands of square feet of indoor exhibitions made sure we didn’t run out of things to do. They even had an indoor waterfall. All of this made for a very cool few days in which I got to see new things and experience new parts of the Island. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
