15 Minutes Of Bliss

This past week, I may have or may not have flown a bit too close to the self care sun. I indulged in activities that have allowed me to embrace a slower pace, prioritizing comfort and self-care. The main character this week was the weather. You wouldn’t believe the extremes, because I certainly didn’t! Everyday I say it can’t get any crazier, but yet it does.

We had planned to visit Universal Studios, but when we woke up to the pouring rain, we decided to stay in and simply go back to sleep. It honestly felt like we were deep in monsoon weather, making me want to stay under my covers all day. However, I needed new work shoes so I had to leave the comfort of my bed. Another motivator for my outing was a specific raspberry tart from the PAUL in Suntec City Mall that I’d been craving. Sadly, the tart was unavailable that day, which definitely matched with the mood outdoors. Despite the disappointment, I did end up enjoying being out of my room without actually being out in the rain.

Continuing with the crazy weather, that same weekend, I had the chance to explore Bugis Junction’s weekend market. It was such a cool little spot, filled with thrifting booths, vintage items, jewelry stalls, and even a tarot card reader. I was intrigued and thought about getting a reading, but unfortunately, the tarot reader only offered a yes or no answer rather than a more in-depth session, so we decided to keep looking. It was still a fun way to continue explore another side to the shopping culture and finding small businesses to support.

One of the most comforting discoveries of my week, though, was finding massage chairs near the top of Somerset Mall. I’ll admit, I’ve become a bit guilty of making it a daily routine after work. After picking up some matcha from HeyTea, I’d take the elevator up to the massage chairs and pay $5 for a 15-minute massage. It might sound trivial, but it’s honestly been a highlight of my week. The relief from stress is incredible, and even though it’s a small, seemingly insignificant thing, it’s really helped me unwind after long days. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and effective way to relax, please trust me when I say, it’s worth the money.

As for work, it’s been business as usual. I’m still working on recipes, which has felt at times like the cycle never ends. As soon as I finish one batch, another is waiting for me. However, it’s not strenuous work, though, so I’m not complaining (just a little tired, maybe!). It’s a steady rhythm, and while the work doesn’t seem to slow down, it’s manageable and gives me the chance to focus on other things in between.

Overall, while my week has been a slow, easy week due to the crazy change in weather, I’ve enjoyed slowing down whenever I can. Whether it was a surprise nap, a trip to the market, or a simple massage, I’ve been trying to live in the moment and enjoy the small comforts life has to offer.
