Light Shows and the Singapore F1 Track

This weekend, I was fortunate to be able to spend time with my parents. On Saturday at 6am, both of my parents landed in Singapore from West Palm Beach, Florida. I set my alarm early and prepared for a busy day exploring the city with them. We first walked around raffles place and then decided to walk towards the Singapore Flyer Ferris wheel and the F1 grid. Not only was this a good opportunity to explore parts of the city I hadn’t already, but it was also a great time to show my parents the city I have been working in for over 4 weeks.

We first arrived at the F1 track where I was able to walk the grid, which was an amazing moment as my father and I have been watching F1 together since Covid. Being able to walk on the permanent section of the track was super cool as you could see tire marks and driver banners from last year. The location of the track is also amazing, in the background you can see the flower garden, cloud forest and gardens by the bay. Most importantly to me, I was able to get some amazing pictures of both the track and the scenery. (All of these photos were taken on my Sony A7iii camera.)

After a long walk and many pictures later, we decided to go back to my parent’s hotel and take a dip in the pool to cool off. At around 6 o’clock, we decided to mobilize and make our way to the famous Newton Hawker Center. I enjoyed prawn friend rice along with some dumplings, and my parents enjoyed satay and ramen.

On Sunday, we decided to visit the Botanical Gardens in Orchard and have a relaxing walk within the Orchid Garden. On the way to the Orchid Garden, we were surprised to see many sea otters and water monitors interacting in a small body of water within the premises. Unfortunately, my camera lens became fogged up because of the incoming rain, and I was unable to get some potentially amazing shots. As we finished our walking tour of the Orchid Garden, we narrowly avoided the classic Singapore downpour and took a Grab (South East Asian Uber) to our dinner reservation within the Marina Bay Sands Shopping center. My Parents and I enjoyed a nice sushi dinner and ended the weekend by watching the gardens by the bay light show and then the water show in the Marina Bay Harbor.
