Week 4 in Singapore – Jonah Pachman

This week marked my fourth week in Singapore, and my fourth week working at Qapita. I spent the week working on more projects and making more connections within the office. This week was very work heavy, I did not spend much time outside the office, but was able to learn a lot along the way. On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to participate in an important, high-level meeting with key executives at my company. This was rather nerve racking, but I enjoyed the opportunity to further expand my experiences within the workplace. Part of what I wanted to get out of this internship was getting my foot in the door at a smaller company, and making an impact despite my entry-level role. The trust that my supervisors had in me to let me attend this meeting and be a part of an important team within the company instilled massive confidence within me. Additionally, this will further prepare me for my internship this summer, where I will be tasked with attending regular meetings with senior members of the company.

Over the weekend, we spent a lot of time walking around the city and exploring. A couple friends and I walked around during the day, seeing sites such as Marina Bay Sands. We also tried eating at new places around the city that we had not previously been, and I tried some amazing Chinese and Thai food along the way. On Saturday night, we went to go eat at a restaurant downtown, and walked around the city more in the Chinatown area. I was able to try out Matt’s new camera, and the results were incredible. The area was beautiful at night, and the city was lit up incredibly. I had not walked around the city as much at night, and having the opportunity to do so was amazing.

All in all, this week was full of great experiences within my internship and during my free-time in Singapore. I am super excited to visit Bintan Island this weekend, where I will be enjoying the beach and relaxing. I am going to try and make the most of every day I have left abroad, as the experience is unfortunately almost done. That being said, the next few weeks are going to be great, and a trip to Japan is right around the corner.
