This past week I dug into my routine a little bit more, got more comfortable communiting around the city (without the assistance of google maps) and started to really become accustom with my path around the city. I have also developed pretty solid relationships with my coworkers and the days almost feel “regular” now. However I am always traveling around on the weekends either for travel or with my soccer team Bohemian FC. It is a great group of guys who come from all over. The club is sponsored by an Irish Pub so naturally a lot of the players come from Ireland. This past Sunday we played in a local cup championship match. It features the league winners of last season (my team) and the second placed team. It was a thrilling game that featured 2 red cards and 6 yellow cards. We were 2 men down and really being pushed back at the end of the game, however there we got a half of a chance when the ball was mishandled by one of the opposing players, myself and my teammate were able to track the ball down and I was able to chip the goalie to secure our 2-0 victory. It was a great win all around and we were able to add some silverware to the clubs collection. It has been great being able to get to know some locals as well as being able to see what the experience is like for others that are foreign to New Zealand. While I am excited to go home back to the U.S and see my friends and family, I have appreciated the routine I have developed here in New Zealand. I am also looking forward to my trip to Fiji on the weekend of may 2nd! it looks like it will be a great experience on a beautiful island. It will also be another chance to see a different country and experience a different culture!
