Easter in Auckland

This past weekend I got to spend my weekend in Auckland, this was the first time that I had a full weekend in the city and did not travel to another destination. With most of the country having off Good Friday and Easter Monday as well as the 25th of April off (Anzac Day) which is a celebration of the military veterans who have served in First World War. With those holidays all lining up within a 2 week period, many people have taken off this upcoming week of the 21st as the only days that most people will be in the office are Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. I definitely sensed this in the office as I would overhear different conversations about the various travel destinations people where going to. While I personally did not plan anything for the 22nd through the 28th, I have planned a trip to Fiji from May 2nd-May 5th which I am very excited for. I will be going with @jpg022 and @sbh017 and look forward to the warm weather and beautiful beaches. I am getting excited to come home and see my family and friends, however I have taken up the mindset that I will most likely never get the chance to have this long of a time period with limited responsibility. While I have had that mindset throughout my study abroad experience, I think it has become more amplified given the fact that my internship has slowed down considerably after our all company conference took place (most of my job description was helping to plan for that). Now I have the ability to learn from across 3 different professions at work (investments, insurance, and home loans). I have been able to ask questions from some of the members in each team. I have also been able to do various LinkedIn learning courses about a variety of topics. Last week I did some research and learned about “house hacking” and possible investments that could be made after my time at Bucknell is done. With regards to different activities that I have done this past week, my highlight was going bowling and seeing the Movie Sinners in theaters with @djg033 and @jpg022, it was a great experience and I highly recommend the movie. Another highlight was going to a local night market that was home to some amazing asian food, I tried a local pie which contain chicken and pork, it was unbelievable and I plan on going back this upcoming week. I am excited to finish my time aboard on a high note!
