This week I was introduced to so many tasty dishes, as well as indulging in eating food that I haven’t been able to have for a long time. At the beginning of the week, I was taken to a small alley filled with many small asían restaurants called Spice Alley. They have almost everything you could imagine from dumplings, ramen, sushi, and even mango sticky rice! I found it so cool how such a small place can hold so much diverse food; it honestly felt like I was entering a whole new world. It has now become my new favorite place and have gone after class almost every day since.

Another great find this week was the asían night market in the town hall district. There, I found many different street vendors that sold more than just food. While trying to decide on one single stand to try, I tried to learn the correct pronunciations to all the food I was thinking of ordering so I could order it well. Also, it was nice to just sit and enjoy the energy and beautiful decorations around me. I’ve been to many night markets back home, so being able to go to an asían night market here in Australia was a really nice experience.

Overall, it was really nice to immerse myself and learn more about the diverse asían culture in Australia. It goes to show that Australia is so much more than the standard culture that is shown to the world. Just like the US., it is a melting pot of different groups of people and cultures. I sense it’ll become a routine to head over to these small nooks across the state after a long day of classes and I’m not complaining.
