This past week we were on the move again. As a part of our program, we had the privilege of spending the weekend in Melbourne. It was a fantastic experience being able to visit the capital of the southeastern state of Victoria. With a population of around 5 million people, it was certainly a large metropolitan area. We started our weekend stay with a walking tour of the downtown area or the central business district (CBD) as the locals call it. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided us with a very insightful tour. Following the tour my roommate and I walked around the city for a while exploring the various shops and restaurants the city had to offer. After seeing lots of artwork, We ended up grabbing a slice of New York style pizza and I ventured out and tried Pineapple pizza for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised with how it tasted and would recommend trying it. After the slice of pizza we moved to a rooftop bar/restaurant that overlooked the skyline of the city. It was an amazing experience and lucky our tour guide in the morning had given us the suggestion because there was no way we would have found it on our own. After enjoying the views of the city we headed back to the hotel where we got ready to go out to some local nightlife spots. The nightlife was very much alive on a Saturday night in the summer. After a fun night out we were able to rest a little on Sunday before checking out of the hotel. My roommates and I spent Sunday walking around the city and ended up walking through the museum of screens which was an incredible experience. The visuals and sounds the museum had to offer was unforgettable. They also had a good feature where you were given your own scannable item and you could tap a QR code on many of the exhibits which you could access later on their website via a special code on your personal scannable item. It essentially allowed you to track your experience and see all the different exhibits you looked at. A really interesting feature of the museum. Overall it was a great experience visiting the second largest city in Australia!
