Week 5 Blog-Canceled Tasmania Trip

This weekend was supposed to be an adventure in Tasmania, but our trip didn’t quite go as planned. A staff shortage at the airport led to our flight from Sydney to Hobart being canceled at the last minute while we were already on the way. Instead of being disappointed about the cancellation, we decided to make the most of our weekend in Sydney.

Saturday morning we headed to Camp Cove in Watsons Bay. The beach was filled with tourists and families and we spent the whole day enjoying the sun and the crystal-clear waters. It was a great way to unwind and reset after a long week. On Sunday, we tried something different–a guided tour of the Sydney Opera House. I have seen the Opera House over a dozen times passing through Darling Harbour and the ferry to Manly Wharf, however, being inside and learning about its history and architecture made us appreciate it on a different level. Walking through different concert halls and learning about the behind-the-scenes stories made this tour a lot more fascinating. While the weekend didn’t turn out as we originally planned, it still turned out to be just as fun being in Sydney and exploring.
