New week, new content, and new adventures. Who wouldn’t want that week after week? In terms of classes, this week was quite interesting. I apologize for not mentioning in my last blog which classes I’m taking this block. For the second and final block of classes this semester, I’m enrolled in International Finance and Aussie Life and Culture.
The International Finance course explores global financial theory, markets, and the instruments used to manage investments and financing for international businesses. Meanwhile, the Aussie Life and Culture course delves into Australia’s colonial history and examines its lasting impact on modern Australian society. Both courses are engaging and offer valuable insights.
Speaking of new trips, we embarked on another adventure this past weekend. Our group of Bucknell students visited Hunter Valley and Newcastle. We toured several wineries in the Hunter Valley area, each with its own story behind its wines and production process. Truth be told, I’m not into wines, and at first, I struggled to keep up with the sommelier’s detailed explanations. However, I eventually learned about the wines’ backgrounds and how to appreciate them properly. For me, the best-tasting wine was the Indigo Vineyard Shiraz, crafted from locally grown grapes with a touch of honey.
Last but not least, the highlight wasn’t the wine tasting, it was the time spent in Newcastle. At first glance, the small industrial city might seem like a destination to avoid for a young adult. However, Nobby Beach along the coast completely transformed my experience. I spent a serene early Sunday morning walking along the coastal path and hiking on a nearby tableland, which offered extraordinary views. Even though I’ve visited many of Sydney’s renowned beaches, this one felt refreshingly unique. Its unusual “walking through the ocean” path has become the best beach experience I’ve ever had, filling my morning with special energy.
Overall, the stunning landscapes and wineries of Hunter Valley, along with the magic of Nobby Beach, made this week unforgettable.
