This week was the last week of classes and with it came all the work needed to finish and pass these classes. I had 3 essays to work on for this week, and somehow, I was able to finish all of them by Friday evening. My classes were a nice experience and it was nice to learn about the surrounding countries and the history and politics around them. Friday was our last day of staying in Sydney so I knew I was going to have to say goodbye to some of the friends I made in the GAV program. It was nice ending Friday night with them.
On Saturday, we woke up early to head to our flight to Cairns. Cairns was way more humid than I thought it would be. Cairns is as humid as I thought the rest of Australia was gonna be. That Saturday night, we knew we had to wake up early for the scuba diving and snorkeling on Sunday so we did not do anything really special Saturday night.
Sunday morning, we woke up early to head to the Great Barrier Reef for scuba diving and snorkeling. I was a little nervous and nauseous when we were first heading out there. But being put in the water eased all of the anxiety I had. Going that deep into the reef was amazing; it was feeling that I could not describe while being there. It was an experience that I would love to repeat for myself. After we left, Deborah and I explored the nearby town and eventually came upon their night markets. It reminded me a lot of the night market in Melbourne.
Today we explored a ton of different mountainous areas and swimming areas. We found mutliple waterfalls, random bats in trees and I learned that I need more stamina in swimming. It was a wonderful way of ending the week and I hope I get to have more fun in Cairns.
