This first week in Singapore has been quite a journey. My work pass finally went through this Friday, which was a surprise for me since someone else on the trip applied later than me and got it approved within the second week. One of the coolest things, however, is the temple located just outside my office. Its vibrant and I will definetly visit during lunch everyday to get some more steps , and it’s a constant reminder of the rich cultural heritage that surrounds this bustling city. I’m also looking forward to seeing if I want to pursue a career in accounting, as this will be a great opportunity to apply the skills I’ve gained from my coursework in a practical setting.

I went in for onboarding the other day, and the job seems extremely chill—they even take two-hour lunches, and the work isn’t too difficult. The office tower where I work has a shopping mall right underneath, and the food there is seriously impressive. The local cuisine features fresh, healthy meals that burst with flavor. Every lunch and dinner is a delightful culinary experience, though I have noticed that some dishes aren’t as high in protein as I’d like. I’ll have to look into finding easy sources of protein while I’m here. This dish however was full of oil and peppers… My tummy hurt alot after 🙁

The weather isn’t too bad now that I’ve had some time to adjust to the hot, humid conditions after Cairns. It’s been raining a lot recently, so I haven’t been sweating too much. The public transportation is super clean and efficient—the train comes every two minutes, making it almost impossible to miss one. My commute to work takes about 40 minutes, which kind of sucks, but as long as I can leave by 8:10, I’ll have some extra time to relax in the office before work officially starts. I SAW A CAT! I hadn’t seen one since January, and on Thursday I spotted the first cat in ages. Maybe I’ll go to the store and buy some cat treats to see if it’ll come over.
