Week 2 In New Zealand

This week was another great week at my internship. I learned how to make journal entries and reconcile ledgers in Netsuite. I’ve also been helping Accounts Payable with checking invoices that are coming through, and regarding the work I did last week, I’m now working on making a policy for unclaimed money for the company. It’s not groundbreaking work but it is very interesting to see the things I used It is interesting to see the things I learned in class being used in actual accounting softwares. Other than that, I also had some fun and did some exploring this week. On Monday, I attended the New Zealand vs New Caledonia game. It was a World Cup qualifier game which had the energy in the stadium high. It was fun watching the two teams going at it and to see the people get excited as New Zealand earned their spot in the World Cup tournament. On Thursday, a couple of us went out to play mini golf at a local spot. It was an interesting place, and I got a cool picture there.

On Friday, a bunch of us made plans to go to Coromandel together, where we planned to see the Hot Water Beach, Cathedral Cove, and star gaze under the new moon. This was the first time I ever drove on the left-hand side of the road, and I was excited about it since it will probably be a while until I have the chance to do that again. It was a long drive and a very windy road that made some people feel car-sick, but I thought it was fun. On Friday night we arrived, and the sky was absolutely beautiful. I don’t think I have ever even seen a night sky that lit up with stars even at the dark star park I go to in Pennsylvania in the Appalachians. Saturday, we went to the hot water beach and had a fun day there, but the water wasn’t as hot as I was expecting. Sadly, it started to rain after our beach trip and we didn’t make it to Cathedral Cove, but we had a cookout on the grill which had a roof over it, and I made some fresh Pico de Gallo for everyone. Sunday morning I knew everyone wanted to leave early, so I woke up earlier and went to make the short hike to the cove on my own, because that was something I really didn’t want to miss. Here are some pictures from this weekend
