Stella Chang: Singapore Week 4

This past week was a much-needed reset week, so there’s not a ton to report.

On Wednesday, I got assigned a new project at work, which was a welcome change after three weeks of repetitive tasks. The new work is more research-based and involves Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, which has been super interesting so far as I’m actively involved in a current deal.

Fast forward to Thursday, Ariana and I went to the highly anticipated Gracie Abrams concert, which was supposed to be “the best night of our lives.” It was such a different experience compared to U.S. concerts as it was super chill, very low stress, and everyone in the crowd was genuinely respectful. The concert was shorter than I expected at only about an hour, but was still amazing.

Apologies in advance for the bad photo quality; we were all the way in the back and zoom can only do so much.

Saturday was also a fun one; Ariana and I went shopping in the morning. I took her back to the Guerlain store where I got my lipstick since the girls and I decided that would be our Singapore souvenir. Later, when Maddie and Alexa came back from their cooking class, I joined them on a trip to Guerlain too. The sales associate recognized me from last week and gifted me perfume, chocolate, and a Guerlain bee pin for bringing so many friends. At this point, I feel like an honorary employee. Their staff is the absolute sweetest. Saturday was also the day we got to meet Lauren’s family for the first time! For dinner, we finally found our way to a sushi train restaurant! We’ve all been wanting to go since Australia and our recent trips booked to Japan definitely added to the craving. It was great and we ended with a bad rom-com from Netflix, truly a perfect night.

Sunday was a well-deserved chill day. Lauren spent time with her family while the rest of us went grocery shopping in the morning. I finally got the grapes I’ve been craving for weeks, plus a few things for easy meals. Grocery prices still blow my mind, but fingers crossed I only have two more trips left. The rest of the day, Ariana and I binged the new season of Love on the Spectrum, which is absolute gold, by the way.

Now it’s Monday, and I’m feeling so refreshed. Sunday really helped me reset my totally wrecked sleep schedule, and for the first time all week, I actually woke up feeling rested. That said, the peace might be short-lived because tonight Alexa and I will be up until 2 a.m. picking housing… so wish us luck!
