It’s crazy how it’s already been 14 weeks abroad, I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone by. This week was another great one, I decided to explore a little more of Singapore because I only have a couple weeks left here. On Wednesday, Bucknell hosted a Singapore alumni event. This was a great opportunity to network with Bucknellians who now work in Singapore. I talked to most of the alumnis and asked everyone why they chose to move to Singapore. I was curious to know everyone’s story of how they ended up here and it was nice to hear their journeys. We even got drinks at Boat Quay with some of the alumni. This networking event showed me the incredibly strong connection that Bucknell has. For Bucknell’s size, it has a strong sense of community that is global. I am excited to meet more Bucknellians from all over the world in my future career.

On Thursday, a few of us went to Ce La Ví in Marina Bay Sands. I’ve heard much about this bar as it oversees the Singapore skyline. Seeing the view of the bar at the top of the Marina Bay Sands was stunning. I took time there to take in the moment of this study abroad experience. I am grateful to be in another part of the world at such an early part of my life. This has made me want to explore every area in the world, and while I am in Asia, I’m going to Tokyo for a week! I can’t wait to explore another amazing Asian city and immerse myself in another culture.

This weekend, we went to Bintan Island, Indonesia. This was a lovely weekend to wind down and relax from the hustle and bustle of Singapore. I was especially excited to go to the beach since I hadn’t been to Australia and was losing my tan. We got there on Good Friday and hung out by the beach for the day. For dinner, we got Indian food; I got some naan bread, which was delicious. On Saturday, we hung out by the beach again. The UV was an 11, and I only put sunscreen on once. By the end of the day, I got sunburnt. After the beach, I went to get an hour massage for $40. It was a nice way to wind down. After, I chilled in a hammock by the beach and watched the sunset. For dinner, we went to a seafood restaurant on the water, which was family-style. My manager from work recently taught me the proper way to use chopsticks. The food was excellent, and they had another bar on the water where we all hung out and talked. Overall, it was a great trip to relax and get away.
