Week 8 in Asia Pacific

Compared to previous weeks on this extraordinary adventure, this one was particularly busy, engaging, and emotional. Academically, it was a whirlwind. I had to prepare for my final exam in International Finance and write a lengthy final essay. I chose to explore the debate over Australia Day and its significance. Additionally, I dedicated a substantial amount of time to my essay for the Management in a Global, Societal, and Cultural Context class, reflecting on my experiences and analyzing e-books about the cultures of Australia and Singapore. On top of that, I had several interviews for an upcoming internship in Singapore. […]

Week 7 in Asia Pacific

Honestly, I’m running out of ways to describe my week. I probably should work on expanding my vocabulary, but every week feels like a new, vibrant, and unforgettable experience. This week was no exception. Starting with my classes, it was another engaging week filled with new learning. In my Aussie Life and Culture class, my classmate Stella and I prepared a presentation titled “From Assimilation to Multiculturalism,” which we presented in class. We discussed how immigration laws have evolved over time, from initially requiring immigrants to adhere to Anglo-Australian standards to now embracing and celebrating cultural diversity. I was also […]

Week 6 in Asia Pacifc

New week, new content, and new adventures. Who wouldn’t want that week after week? In terms of classes, this week was quite interesting. I apologize for not mentioning in my last blog which classes I’m taking this block. For the second and final block of classes this semester, I’m enrolled in International Finance and Aussie Life and Culture. The International Finance course explores global financial theory, markets, and the instruments used to manage investments and financing for international businesses. Meanwhile, the Aussie Life and Culture course delves into Australia’s colonial history and examines its lasting impact on modern Australian society. […]

Week 5 in Asia Pacific

This week is also full of new adventures and exciting content. A friend I met during my first week in Sydney who is originally from Serbia, like me but has lived in Sydney his whole life, invited me to a jiu-jitsu practice. He is a professional jiu-jitsu fighter and has successfully competed in multiple national-level competitions in Australia. To be honest, I was initially scared when he invited me. I had never tried any martial arts before, and I was nervous about performing poorly. However, the experience turned out to be incredibly enjoyable. The practice focused entirely on learning new […]

Week 4 in Asia Pacific

To begin with, the week started with preparations for final exams, as this was the last week of my first block of classes. During the first couple of days, I spent most of my time studying. However, as soon as I finished my last exam, I was finally able to enjoy the more entertaining aspect of my time abroad-traveling. The highlight of the week was a weekend trip to Melbourne. After spending a sunny day at Coogee Beach in Sydney, our Bucknell group headed to Sydney Airport, where we caught a flight to Melbourne. We arrived late that night, so […]

Week 3 in Asia Pacific

This week in Sydney, like every other so far, has been an authentic experience as I continued exploring the city. Besides my coursework obligations, I had the chance to enjoy discovering new sights. The highlight was definitely a bike ride through Centennial Park, located in East Sydney. The park features formal gardens, ponds, grand avenues, statues, heritage buildings, and sporting fields. Riding a bike surrounded by all these attractions has truly enriched my experience here so far. Beyond that, I have continued visiting the beaches and bars, making the most of my social experiences. I can’t wait to see what […]
