Asia Pacific Week 14- Beyond the Brochure

Howdy friends, family, students, professors, and all other curious readers! I just completed my 14th week in the Asia Pacific and have only T-20 days left before our flight home. Soon, I will be back in my own bed, enjoying the third season in a row of heat as we return for Memorial Day celebrations. To kick things off, I nearly missed my time slot to register for classes Monday night. Thankfully, I remembered just in time while talking to Tomy in the kitchen that evening. I should make it so my phone buzzes for important events like that, but […]

Asia Pacific Week 13- Korean BBQ, Museum Chill, Clarke Thrill

Ever wonder how they teach Thai roosters how to do art? Yeah, me neither. These are the type of questions I asked myself after leaving the National Gallery in Singapore. Good food for thought moment indeed. Although this week has been busy at work, I have continued to find new places and areas to explore. We have welcomed a new member to our tax team, meaning I am no longer one of the new people. Although two other people have joined the company since my arrival, this is the first time our team has welcomed a new colleague since the […]

Asia Pacific Week 12- Trails, Turns, and Tales

Hello friends! Time is flying by and I now stumble upon the 13th week of my semester abroad in the Asia Pacific region! This makes seeing as many places as possible even more imperative, so I have fewer second thoughts going home. I have prioritized going out and exploring random locations, which is quite fun. This leads to an interesting point about my experiences so far this week. I have run into people I know twice this week by sheer luck. This occurred during my lunch break with my colleagues when I saw Lauren and Bianca, who work at Blockoffice. […]

Asia Pacific Week 11- The Ho Chi Minh Experience

Sometimes, it is hard to fathom how things work until we see it for ourselves. This weekend, I planned a trip (just a week in advance) to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam, where I learned much about the culture, government, and people. I also have started getting into a good routine after a slow recovery from my sore throat. There is no better way to start one’s day than a pre-work gym session. The only minor pitfall I have discovered is that it is still dark until several minutes after 7 am, making it hard to get a […]

Asia Pacific Week 10- New Internship and Smiles All Around!

Hi guys! This week, I gained my first experience working in an office. From navigating the maze of malls by Orchard Parksuites to planning my big upcoming adventures, it has been a roller coaster of a week, settling into life in Singapore. Every day, there is something new to uncover and explore, even if it is just a new model or client inquiry at work. In fact, I just finished my first work week, and it’s been fantastic. I have made so many friends with my department. Being in the tax department, I initially thought the days would be pretty […]

Asia Pacific Week 9- Goodbye Australia, Hello Singapore

G’day to you all! This will probably be the last time I use any Aussie slang in these entries, but I often feel like a local, so I may still use it for a while. That being said, it is our last week in Australia, and I am both very sad and very excited at the same time. Change is inevitable because this trip taught me not to be too comfortable doing the same thing, living in the same place, or interacting with the same people. Although most of the crew is headed to Singapore, there are some notable friends […]
