Asia Pacific Week 8- Sydney Wrap up and Spring Break in Caines

Hiya, readers, and adventurers. We have now made it to the halfway point of the program. Can you believe it? Sydney, Australia, has become a home away from home for me, so sadly, we had to say our goodbyes. Reflecting on these past eight weeks, I have gained a remarkable sense of how culture and history have shaped Australia. Yes, it may be evident at first to spend a few days in the country and learn that everyone drives on the left side of the road, tipping is not expected, and “mate” is used a lot in everyday small talk. […]

Asia Pacific Week 7- Memories and Mom!

Wow! What a week it has been. From being able to experience the Blue Mountains with my mom to seeing two shows at the Opera House in one day, there is so much to unpack from my seventh week in Sydney! I already preplanned many adventures this week, making it much easier to experience Sydney without scrambling to figure out what to do next. Remarkably, our last weekend in Sydney has already ended. Still, I am eternally grateful to the Bucknell Global Education office and Global Academic Ventures for making the trip possible. A special shoutout goes to Professor Alexander, […]

Asia Pacific Week 6- Sunny Days

Hi friends! Heading into the seventh of eight weeks in Sydney, I cannot even describe how fast time has gone. It only seemed like yesterday that we got off the plane to venture into this land that now feels like home. Although the weather has been inconvenient at times, most days have been hot and sunny, providing excellent opportunities to go to the beach and enjoy the great outdoors. This past week was no exception. The weather was very cooperative, making it even more enjoyable to head outside. On the other hand, this week has also been my most challenging […]

Asia Pacific Week 5- Food and Fun

Hello everyone. I have just completed my fifth week in Australia and the first week of my second block of classes. My new schedule gives me the entire day on Monday off, allowing me to extend my weekend fun and enjoy Sydney even more. A welcomed gift of this was that the first Monday was the Super Bowl, which started at 10:30 am in Sydney. After a quick workout at the gym, I had an excellent experience watching some morning football. Instead of hotdogs and hamburgers, I enjoyed some Australian eggs and bacon. On that note, there appeared to have […]

Asia Pacific Week 4- Melbourne

Greetings from the land down under! This week, we wrapped up our first block of classes before flying to Melbourne, Australia. In my two classes, I had to prepare for a final exam, a final assignment, and a presentation. All else said, I did pretty well on these finals. In my financial decision modeling class, I presented a data set involving “Montgomery County Wages” before taking an exam on all the class material later in the week. A big part of this class was using Excel, and I am happy with how everything finished. In my other class, business law, […]

Asia Pacific Week 3: Sights, Sounds, and Sensations

It is hard to believe that week three is already in the books for our Asia Pacific Abroad trip. It shows how fast time flies, especially when you are out in such a fantastic city like Sydney, Australia. We have also completed three full weeks of classes, meaning there is only one week before we transition into our new class block. That sounds exciting but also a bit nerve-racking, considering it felt like we started our first block of classes yesterday. The week has been a tad slower due to the nature of the term wrapping up and deadlines rolling […]
