Week 8 Blog-Great Barrier Reef and Atherton Tablelands

After two incredible months studying abroad in Sydney, we wrapped up our semester with a week-long trip to Cairns. Our Sunday was dedicated to one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, the Great Barrier Reef. We got on a boat for an hour and a half and had the chance to snorkel and scuba dive. It was my first time scuba diving, and it couldn’t have been a better first experience. I went for two dives and a snorkel around three different reef locations. The underwater world was breathtaking, and marine life thrived in every part of the ocean. I […]

Week 7 Blog-Opera House and Coastal Walk

As we spent our last weekend in Sydney, we tried to explore and experience Sydney as much as possible before leaving this Saturday. Last Saturday, we got tickets for a classical music concert at the iconic Sydney Opera House. I grew up playing clarinet in a church orchestra, so it has always been my dream to go to a show in the Opera House. The evening’s performance, Simone Young conducts Elgar & Vaughan Williams, was mesmerizing. The orchestra conducted by Young had violin, cello, clarinet, trumpet, and many other instruments filling the main Concert Hall, and it was truly a […]

Week 6 Blog-Beaches and Barrels

Last weekend, we took an exciting trip to Hunter Valley and Newcastle. As someone who has been interested in wine and enjoys visiting vineyards, this was a trip I have been looking forward to. We kicked off the weekend on Saturday with a visit to Brokenwood Wines. Our sommelier, Henry took great care of us starting off with their signature Semillon wines, then Rosato and Shiraz, finishing the tasting course with some dessert wines. After tasting, my friends and I ordered extra glasses and sat outside enjoying the nice sunny weather. Next, we made our way to Ernest Hill, which […]

Week 5 Blog-Canceled Tasmania Trip

This weekend was supposed to be an adventure in Tasmania, but our trip didn’t quite go as planned. A staff shortage at the airport led to our flight from Sydney to Hobart being canceled at the last minute while we were already on the way. Instead of being disappointed about the cancellation, we decided to make the most of our weekend in Sydney. Saturday morning we headed to Camp Cove in Watsons Bay. The beach was filled with tourists and families and we spent the whole day enjoying the sun and the crystal-clear waters. It was a great way to […]

Week 4 Blog-Sunday in Melbourne

Last Sunday in Melbourne was a perfect mix of history, culture, and exploration. The morning started with breakfast at a cafe called Krimper in Melbourne’s CBD. We then made our way over to Queen Victoria Market, a vibrant marketplace that was filled with fresh produce and unique Australian-made goods. The market was alive with energy, filled with locals and tourists who were going from shop to shop.  After spending some time at the market, I made my way to ACMI(Australian Centre for the Moving Image). As someone who enjoys film and media, this was the highlight of my day. The […]

Week 3 Blog-Luke Combs and Sydney Harbour

The last Saturday was an incredible night as my friends and I joined thousands of fans at Accor Stadium for Luke Combs’ concert. The energy at the stadium was unreal with the stadium lights flashing, cowboy hats everywhere, and a crowd that knew every lyric. When Combs stepped on the stage, the place erupted, and he delivered hit after hit, from “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” to “Fast Car.” Everyone was singing along creating an electric atmosphere. Him sharing stories between songs and connecting with the audience made it an even more special night for us. Seeing one of my […]
