Dungeons and Dragons: Reflections on Choices and Destiny

This week has been a whirlwind of emotions for me. I would say this week has not just been it for me; a one I never felt motivated to do anything. I went from feeling a deep sense of homesickness after my cousin left to experiencing an unexpected thrill—purchasing a ticket to watch Dungeons and Dragons at the opera house with my apartment mates, which I can safely called family. I had no idea what to expect since I have only heard about the game and play, and have never fully participate in it, but the moment the play began, […]

Week 5 Blog: Family Bonding, Flying Without Wings

This week was truly one of the most amazing experiences of my life. What made it so special was finally meeting my cousin—someone I had only heard about but never met in person. He left Liberia for Australia right after the civil war in Liberia, two years after I was born, so our lives had never crossed paths until now. When he told me he was flying in from Adelaide Australia just to see me, I was filled with excitement but also a bit of nervousness. Would we get along? Would it feel like meeting a stranger, or would we […]

Week 5: Valentine in Sydney

I can’t believe it’s already been five weeks since I arrived in Sydney! Time is flying by, and each week brings new experiences and adventures. This past week was especially memorable as my suite mates and I celebrated Valentine’s Day in the most fun and unconventional way—karaoke, and I spoke with my family and saw my cat and got some pictures as well!  For me, valentine’s Day is often associated with romantic dinners, flowers, and chocolates, but this year, I got to experience something different. Instead of focusing on traditional celebrations, my suite mates and I decided to make it […]

Week 4:Melbourne vs. Sydney: A Tale of Two Cities

This week, I had the opportunity to visit Melbourne, and I was captivated by the city’s unique blend of architectural styles, cultural vibrancy, which I saw at the Victorious Market, and dynamic atmosphere. Unlike Sydney, which boasts a sleek and modern aesthetic, Melbourne offers a fascinating mix of ancient architecture, 19th-century influences, and contemporary developments shaped by globalization, tourism, and technology. One of the first things that struck me about Melbourne was its infrastructure. The city seamlessly integrates historical buildings with modern skyscrapers, creating a landscape that tells a story of its rich past and promising future. Walking through its […]

Week 3: A Perfect Week: Bondi Beach, City Lights, and Quiet Reflections

Some days feel just right—filled with adventure, laughter, and moments of quiet reflection. This gone week was fill with many of those days. The morning started with a trip to Bondi Beach, where the sun kissed the waves, and the sand felt warm beneath my feet. There’s something magical about the ocean breeze and the rhythmic crashing of waves. My friends and I played volleyball, diving into the soft sand, laughing at our near misses, and celebrating our efforts in learning volleyball. The game left us energized and hungry, so we treated ourselves with frozen yogurt. I chose a mix […]

Celebrating diversity in the Chinese style.

If you are a person who likes to try delicious and affordable new cuisines like me, then Sydney’s Chinatown and market are things you should add at the top of your travel list to Australia. You remember what they say, “you are only as good as the food you eat,” that is right, this place completes this quote with an exclamatory mark! Chinatown is one of Sydney’s most vibrant and iconic cultural precincts, offering a unique fusion of heritage, cuisine, and tradition that has become a cornerstone of the city’s rich diversity. Located in Haymarket, this bustling enclave not only […]
