Study Abroad Final Reflection

My reflection on my Spring 2025 semester abroad — studying in Australia and interning in Singapore. From diving into global business coursework to gaining hands-on marketing experience across Southeast Asia, this journey was filled with growth, culture, and unforgettable moments. Whether I was exploring Sydney’s street food or navigating work projects across time zones, every experience taught me something new about adaptability, communication, and cultural awareness. Here’s a glimpse into what I learned and why it’s shaped the way I approach the world — both personally and professionally.

A Soft Reset In Bintan

This past week pushed me out of my comfort zone and into new experiences that genuinely shifted my perspective. Between navigating unfamiliar places, trying new activities, and adapting to different cultural norms, I left Bintan feeling a little more open-minded and a lot more appreciative of life. We spent the long weekend in Bintan, just a short one-hour ferry ride from Singapore. Right off the bat, even before we boarded the ferry, Bianca was giving me a full pep talk on all the “unofficial” rules of the trip. The main one being how important it was to rush to the […]

15 Minutes Of Bliss

This past week, I may have or may not have flown a bit too close to the self care sun. I indulged in activities that have allowed me to embrace a slower pace, prioritizing comfort and self-care. The main character this week was the weather. You wouldn’t believe the extremes, because I certainly didn’t! Everyday I say it can’t get any crazier, but yet it does. We had planned to visit Universal Studios, but when we woke up to the pouring rain, we decided to stay in and simply go back to sleep. It honestly felt like we were deep […]

Cooking Up Memories

This week was focused on saving space for moments of peace amidst a busy schedule. One of the highlights was visiting the Gardens by the Bay, not once, but twice. My first visit was with a group of friends from the program, and we had a great time exploring the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome. But it was the second visit that truly stood out to me. One of my friends sadly had complications and wasn’t able to continue the program so she was leaving this weekend. Therefore, our group of friends decided to go back with her, so she […]

Navigating A Sea of Knowledge

Last weekend, our group got the chance to receive a cultural tour around Singapore, visiting three distinct ethnic enclaves: Little India, Chinatown, and the Malay Heritage Town. One of the most fascinating aspects of the tour was learning how Singapore prioritizes cultural preservation. Rather than allowing complete redevelopment, the government only permits restoration renovations in these heritage areas, ensuring that the cultural essence remains intact for future generations. It came as a surprise because in America, many places get destroyed to build business without any regard to their cultural significance. During the tour, we explored vibrant local markets filled with […]

Heat, Hustle, and Highlights

My week in Singapore has been a whirlwind of excitement, adaptation, and new experiences. From arriving at the world-famous airport to settling into my internship, every day brought something new and memorable. Even now, I still can’t believe I am in one of the cities I dreamed of one day visiting when I was younger. Arrival Day Arriving in Singapore was a great experience, especially getting to see a glimpse of the renowned Changi Airport. When told we had some free time until we had to leave, my first stop was the incredible indoor waterfall, the Jewel Rain Vortex. It […]
