Weathering Singapore, Wandering Bintan

This past week’s events unfolded in a series of distinctly different acts marked most indubitably by a dramatic shift in climate that mirrored a mental pivot from beachside ease to urban intensity. A fitting metaphorical reflection for a week that balanced formidable professional challenges with rest, reflection, and unexpected drama due in full to my accidental participation in a monsoon survival challenge. The first act was set firmly in the world of legal structuring and startup logistics. I spent the week drafting founder’s agreements, managing share transfer filings, assisting with entity setup, tasks that were an excellent lesson in legal […]

Boxing and Beaching

This week I finally got to the beach!!!! I needed that. Good times and tan lines. Sand in my hair, don’t care. Other than swimming, my favorite thing at Sentosa was the taco truck. There was a canopy with a circle of quaint food trucks, and it was such good grub. We saw people zip lining and bungee jumping, and although I was close to convincing my parents to do it with me, we were happy on solid ground until we went over the rope bridge in order to get to the southernmost point of Continental Asia. It ended up […]

Wholesome

This week I have been able to explore the city more, and venture out with my family here! I started the week off strong and ended up running around the entire length of the botanic gardens, exploring the entire park this time. I found such remote paths and eventually was led to the art gallery there. After laying on the lawn for a bit, I found an amphitheater next to a lake with another beautiful lawn that I will definitely be lounging on one day when I bring a book and a picnic.  I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the […]

Holi(day) in Bali

I have never been so happy to have a day off than I was today. This week has left me absolutely spent. To start it off, I met the CEO of the company, since Bianca has joined me in the office now too. I was surprised by his ability to start his own company at such a young age, which is an inspiration. He also mentioned that one of their American employees will be joining us for the company trip whom I can meet, and he said if we do well enough he hopes to start a branch in America […]

Tunnel Vision

This week has been very exciting. Me and my new roommate from Elon have become fast friends. I loved hearing all about her adventures (and their multiple medical scares) over spring break, and we have done some serious bonding this week, as her and her boyfriend broke up (he’s broke, she’s up.) She was nice enough to come with me to the National Museum of Singapore, which was definitely an enlightening experience. Learning about World War ll was especially interesting to me, and the stuff about the secret societies. Knowing what happened in the past definitely makes you appreciate the […]

Je ne sais quoi

This week for the rest of spring break I got to see some hungry crocodiles, some revitalizing waterfalls, an island dazzling in seashells. We also ventured to palm cove beach, which felt like a desert island. Palm cove was so empty that I thought I could walk forever and come across no signs of civilization, which was an extremely pleasant thought. Me and the roomies (+ Alexa’s boyf) went to fancy restaurants every night and it truly felt like I was worlds away from the 9-5 lifestyle. The last day I felt so at peace, not even the thought of […]
