One of my favorite sayings is that time flies when you are having fun. The last 14 weeks have definitely been flying by and it feels bizarre that this is the final blog. It seems like just yesterday I was bouldering across the rocks on Bondi beach, looking out into the long stretch of sand filled with playful energy. Because this is the last blog, I wanted to reflect on my key takeaways from each location. Living in Sydney for 8 weeks was a dream come true. Sydney has everything I look for in a city. Whether it be the […]
If this blog had a headline, it would be “my first dive outside Australia and a confidence check in my chopstick abilities”. Thankfully, I have the opportunity to write about and share both of these experiences. Bawah Reserves in Indonesia is not only well known for the stunning views above sea level, it is notorious for being one of the top dive sites in the country. When presented with the opportunity to explore the underwater playground, without hesitation, I said yes. The dive site was a short 10 minute boat ride out into the South China Sea. We were on […]
This week I spent 175,000 for a pack of pistachios. Thankfully, the currency was in Indonesian Rupiahs so it equaled around $10 USD. I mean, in a world where pistachios cost $175,000 USD I would be spending my time learning how to build fires and developing skills to become a hunter gatherer. My Mom visited this week and as a result she suggested we take a mother son trip to Indonesia. Without hesitation I agreed because I would have to be crazy to pass up on that opportunity. On Saturday the 5th, we began our trip to Bawah Reserves, a […]
This whole week was dedicated to creating a new routine and continuing to explore the city of Singapore. Two important aspects of any routine are the ‘what’ and the ‘when’. I already had a great idea of what I want to do in this city and what I want to achieve. The ‘when’ was the biggest question for me. Everything that I am doing revolves around my biggest responsibility which is my internship. What made this complicated was the fact that people in my office do not work on an hourly basis. It is a work environment infused by report […]
The first week in Singapore has been nothing short of eye opening and life changing. It has not only provided me with a glimpse of what living in the city would be like, but also working in the city. One of the key success factors to success is efficiency. In other words, properly maximizing the value of a resource. One resource that I have noticed is important to both work and life is time. This city utilizes time unlike anywhere else I have seen. Anything from talking to riding public transportation to even grocery shopping has been tweaked in a […]
