Studying Abroad in Singapore: Week 14

This week at work was super exciting. I got to start out the week by sitting in on a meeting for a very big client. Then later on in the week I got to help with the move management portion of project management. I went onsight with one of the Project Managers and then helped ensure that all the clients’ things were transferred to the new office Colliers just completed. Then I was able to tour the site as well while the contractors put the finishing touches on the office. Then later that day I went with a different PM […]

Studying Abroad in Singapore Week 13

This week at work on some of the projects from previous weeks. Then we worked on collecting some new contacts for tenders, and worked on contracts for clients. We also continued working on paperwork for some ongoing projects.  On Tuesday, Stella and I treated ourselves to a special lunch. We went to an Italian place near our work and got a mushroom and sausage pizza. It was good, but I will say nothing compares to Pizza in America. It is definitely one of things I am looking forward to when returning.  Friday night a few of us went out for […]

Studying Abroad in Singapore: Week 12

I spent this past week at work finding options for new vendors to contact for future jobs. I also helped with some client contracts and paperwork for work being done on some of the properties.  On Tuesday, my Boss took Penelope and I to Lunch. We went to a traditional Indonesian restaurant called Pagi Sore. We enjoyed some grilled chicken, crispy tofu, and a spicy eggplant dish. It was fun getting to know my boss better and getting a native’s perspective on Singapore.  On Saturday we woke up early for a cooking class. We drove a little outside of the […]

Studying Abroad in Singapore: Week 11

This week at work I continued to work on some of the same projects from last week. More excitingly, I got to go on a site visit to one of the properties the team is working on. Penelope and I will be continuously visiting the site to monitor the progress of the work being done. The property is one of Singapore’s famous black and white houses from the early 1900’s. They are historically significant protected properties so, there can be no alterations to the exterior and there are a lot of restrictions when remodeling the inside as well. Since it […]

Studying Abroad in Singapore: Week 10

Welcome to Singapore  We landed late Saturday night in the Changi Airport. It is known for being the best airport in the world and has a large indoor waterfall. Immediately after making our way through customs we treated ourselves to some Shake Shack. Then we made our way to our apartment, where we met our new roommate, Jocelyn, before going to bed.  On Sunday, we had our orientation and lunch with GAV. We walked to our meeting location and I was stunned by just how hot and humid it became. With the sun not even fully out and the group […]

Abroad in Australia: Week 9

Spring Break  On our first day of Spring Break we took a boat out to the Great Barrier Reef. Once there we stopped along three different points to get in the water and go snorkeling. It was so beautiful. I saw various types of fish, corals, and even some reef sharks. I felt like I was in a live action finding nemo.  The next day we went on a bus tour of some beautiful nature spots in Cairns. We stopped at waterfalls, swimming holes, and a giant fig tree that inspired the tree from Avatar. We spent the day swimming […]
