Abroad in Australia: Week 8

Goodbye Sydney  As this week was our last in Sydney we made it our mission to fill our week with all the fun or touristy things we wanted to do. So, we started out the week by going to the botanical gardens and taking pictures in front of the opera house. It was nice to end our time in Sydney in the way we began it.  On Tuesday Stella and I went out for dinner at Kafe Kooks. They had a two person tasting menu which we ordered. It came with four appetizers, five different curries, and unlimited roti. It […]

Abroad in Australia Week 7

I started out this week by doing the Coogee Beach to Bondi Beach walk with my roommates. We spent the morning walking along cliffs that overlooked gorgeous beaches. By the time we arrived at Bondi, we were all starving, so we grabbed lunch at a little cafe called Blackwood. I had the best salad of my life. It was a green goddess salad with ricotta. After lunch we bused back to Tamarama, one of the beaches along the walk, and sunbathed while reading our books. Then, Lauren and I wanted to swim but the currents were too strong at Tamarama, […]

Abroad in Australia Week 6

Bondi On Monday we started out the week with a relaxing morning at Bondi. We went to Harry’s to try their infamous matches. I got the strawberry matcha and Stella got the mango. They were served in these adorable, clear, cans. It was one of the best matcha lattes I have had. We then met Sienna and Alexa at Bondi Beach. We sat on the hills above the beach because it was a little bit too windy to sit in the sand. We stayed there for a while, reading, chatting, and tanning until we headed back to our apartment to […]

Abroad in Australia: Week 5

Galentine’s DaySince Valentine’s Day was on Friday, my roommates and I decided to celebrate together. We went out for a hibachi dinner, which was a lot of fun and a super interactive experience. My favorite part was when our chef had us catch our own bowls of fried rice. First, he threw two empty bowls, which I caught one in the other. Then the third bowl was filled with fried rice. After hibachi, we finished up the night back at the apartment with chocolate-covered strawberries and cards. Alexa and Sienna taught us all how to play Knock. Coastal Walk from […]

Abroad in Austalia: Week 4

Finals  This week was the final week of our first block of classes, so I spent a lot of my time studying for my final exam and working on my final project. I did most of my studying at the Leaf Cafe down the street from our hotel. Their handcrafted cranberry lime sodas got me through some long study sessions.   Weekend in Melbourne  On Friday we left Sydney for Melbourne. Our flight was delayed, so by the time we landed we were starving. So, Stella, Lauren, and I went out for some late night Indian food and 7/11 slurpees. We […]

Abroad in Australia Week 3

This week was unusually rainy for Sydney. With the sun not making an appearance until Saturday, I had to find some other activities suited for the poor weather to occupy my time.  Putting the Study in Study Abroad  At the beginning of the week, my workload had increased and I had to dedicate more time to my studies. I focused my attention to working on my Corporate Finance midterm and preparing for my Global Management presentation. Of course, I could do none of this without caffeine. One of my favorite things about Sydney is the cafe culture. You can’t walk […]
