Week 14 was another good week, though it was a short one. This week we had Friday off as it was Good Friday which is a national holiday in Singapore. As such we were lucky enough to go to Bintan which is an island in Indonesia. Bintan is like Bali but bigger and is home to jungles and multiple resorts. The resort we stayed at was called Nirwana, which is a family friendly resort on the north west end of the island. We got on a ferry in Singapore early on Friday. The ferry was cool and it was great […]
This week I continued to explore Singapore with my roommates. This city continues to amaze me and I am having the best time exploring not only this city but this part of the world, which had previously seemed so inaccessible to me. My roommates and I are beginning to plan some last minute trips to places we want to see before we head back stateside. The great thing about Singapore’s central location is that flights to many places nearby are relatively cheap. For example, we are beginning to plan our big trip to Japan! My employer was generous enough to […]
Week 12 was a great week. This week we enjoyed more of Singapore’s sights and experiences. We went to the Marina Bay Sands hotel to a famous rooftop bar. The place we went to is a bar/club called Ce La Vi, and happens to be featured in the last scene of Crazy Rich Asians. The bar itself was incredible with a great dance floor and fantastic views. The building, Marina Bay Sands, consists of three towers connected by a huge roof which is styled after a boat. Also on this “boat” is a huge infinity pool which is open to […]
Week 11 was a great week. Work went well this week and I enjoyed spending time with my team. I am slowly getting more responsibility in the office which is making me feel like I am making a greater impact. This feeling of contribution drives me to work harder as I feel the work means something, as such I am enjoying this increased responsibility. The highlight of the week though was our long weekend. March 31st marked the end of Ramadan, a day which is called Harri Raya. Harri Raya marks the end of fasting and is celebrated as a […]
This week was my first official week in the office and my first full week in Singapore. It was quite a week with many new experiences and new things. To begin my overall experience, so far Singapore has been one of my favorite cities i have visited. Unlike Australia which is very much a western country, Singapore is most certainly an Asian one. Though they reside on similar parts of the globe they could not be more different places, but i love Singapore for that reason. Singapore as an Asian city is so different from anything I have experienced before. […]
