Moments in Queensland/A minor crash out

GBR I had the a good time snorkeling even though I presently have no photo evidence…pics from my disposable waterproof camera pending… All day I couldn’t stop thinking about Finding Nemo! I saw clownfish, the black and white fish with the scar, but sadly no turtles. My favorite fish of the day was a parrotfish. However, there was something seriously constricting about wearing a snorkel, mask, life jacket, and skin-tight lycra suit. My stuffy nose and the mask did not mix well. I also somehow got a lovely tanline from the flippers. I cannot even imagine scuba diving. I don’t […]

Love letter to Sydney

It’s absolutely cruel that I had to just pack up my entire life from the past two months into four little bags (okay maybe not little but still under the weight limit 😇). My time in Sydney was probably the best eight weeks of my entire life. I fell completely in love with the city. I’m already itching to return and I’ve only been gone two days. I’m gonna miss everything, from my ritual walks to Bondi, to all of the life changing food I had, to my amazing friends that I made during my time here. Even the classes […]

Tasmania!

This weekend, Ariana and I had a fantastic experience traveling to one of Australia’s state capitals: Hobart, Tasmania! We stayed in a gorgeous Airbnb in the cozy neighborhood of Sandy Bay from Saturday morning until Monday evening. We were able to experience the island’s beautiful marina, shop at the Salamanca markets, take a bus tour of Bruny Island, and visit the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA). It was one of my favorite weekends yet and I am so thankful that I was able to see a new part of Australia that is so vastly different from Sydney! Salamanca […]

Weekend in Wine Country

This weekend, we were fortunate to visit the Hunter Valley, one of Australia’s most famous wine producing regions. About a two hour bus ride away, we got to enjoy tastings and the picturesque scenery of the vineyards at three wineries: Brokenwood, Ernest Hill, and Margan Wines! Brokenwood Wines Our first stop was Brokenwood Wines. Their cellar door had us situated at two large round bars with the sommelier standing in the middle. Our host was fantastic and made the experience extremely fun while also being educational. He taught us how to really look like you know what you’re doing when […]

Sunburn, galentines, lemon gelato!

This week brought a new schedule to adjust to with the start of our block 2 classes. I have loved having no classes on Mondays – a whole extra day to explore and be in the sun! However I should probably learn from my mistake that I’ve been repeating every summer my entire life and maybe actually always wear sunscreen. Even if I “have a good base” or it’s morning and the UV is only 5, I really should keep in mind my dad is ginger and I burn really easily. First sunburn of the week hit me on Wednesday. […]

Melbourne!

This weekend we had the cool opportunity to venture beyond Sydney and travel to Melbourne as a group. After just a short hour and a half flight (unfortunately delayed about an hour), we arrived! I wasn’t able to get much of a first impression because it was close to midnight and all we really saw was the drive from the airport and about a block on our walk from the bus before I crashed almost immediately. Our accommodation here was very nice- being on the “penthouse” level, our suite was two stories and me and Ariana’s room was a loft […]
