Eating spicy

This week I’ve gotten more used to my work environment and got a good start on the accounts payable aging report. I’ve gotten all of the Excel functions to work and just need to work on the Excel macros. The videos I’ve watched have been pretty helpful and I’m starting to get the hang of using the more difficult Excel functions. This week consisted mostly of me eating or learning to cook. I work from home every Friday and I got a bit bored eating at the mall near Orchard. I ended up going to Suntec City to visit a […]

Official start to the job

This week I was alerted that I my workpass had finally gotten approved and that I can start going into the office. I had already spent time going through the onboarding process and getting myself familiar with the invoice processing software so I did not waste too much time. When I went into the office, I immediately began my work and started mty bok keeping. I was assigned with a small project already, where I was tasked with creating an accounts payable report using different excel functions to calculate the age of different debts that other companies owe. I got […]

Week 1 in Singapore

This first week in Singapore has been quite a journey. My work pass finally went through this Friday, which was a surprise for me since someone else on the trip applied later than me and got it approved within the second week. One of the coolest things, however, is the temple located just outside my office. Its vibrant and I will definetly visit during lunch everyday to get some more steps , and it’s a constant reminder of the rich cultural heritage that surrounds this bustling city. I’m also looking forward to seeing if I want to pursue a career […]

Week 9 Last week in Australia

Now that I’ve been in Cairns for about a week, the weather is starting to grow on me, just a little . I still sweat really easily and have to be in shorts constantly to avoid overheating. Everything else has been going well. The food here is a bit more expensive than I imagined, but still way cheaper than it was in the U.S. I went out with a couple of buddies after dinner to explore the city, and the Night Market was packed with different vendors and food centers. There were cosmetic stores, art displays, massage parlors, souvenir shops, […]

Week 8 Cairns

This week has been quite busy, as it was the last week of classes. I had to write two essays and take a final exam for my international finance class. I definitely spent too much time studying international finance, and the exam was way too easy. I rewarded myself with a loaf of curry bread near UTS after I finished my exam. The most stressful part of this week was packing up and getting ready to leave Sydney. I will miss reliable transportation, cheap food, and the beaches nearby. The plane ride to Cairns didn’t take too long, and I […]

Week 7: Eventish week

This week has been a roller coaster. I woke up one day to sip some water and felt a pain in my throat. Being sick while in Australia is awful and I am very grateful that my mom snuck a ziplock bag with 3 sleeves of dayquil and nyquil. The only way to get through a bad cold is through rest and LOTS of soup. I took some time to rest and had alot of soup. Me being sick was the perfect excuse to go to my local Vietnamese restaurant and eat some Pho. This week I tried the beef […]
