From Tourist Attractions to Final Sydney Thoughts: My Eighth Week Down Under

My last entry talking about Sydney! I can’t believe it! The life Down Under is a good one.

Opera House and Botanical Gardens

Our final Monday in Sydney, I needed a final tourist moment. Although I had been to the Opera House multiple times, I had failed to take pictures in front of it. Stella and Maddie were good sports and took the adventure with me. It was nice to capture some photos, no matter how touristy I felt, because they’re not only something for me to look back on, but I also know the photos will make my mom happy.

Before the Opera House, we wandered through the Botanical Gardens, which was another thing on my Sydney Bucket List. It was breathtaking—the shrubbery, the open areas, and all the various activities people were doing.

Class are Over!

Both my International Marketing class and Contemporary Politics in the Asia Pacific class have come to an end, but they were a blast! I learned so much information that will not only transcend into my career but also help me understand the world around me and how much I want/need to explore it. While I am sad to be through with classes, I’m looking forward to applying concepts from my International Marketing class at my internship at Global Financial Consultants, where I will be a Marketing Intern!

Last Day in Sydney

My final day in Sydney included taking a two-hour International Marketing exam, but all things considered, it went well. After class, Sienna and I met up with Stella and Maddie for a set menu dinner, and to no surprise, the dinner was amazing! Stella, as expected, did a great job selecting the venue. The delicious food and great company perfectly embodied the past two months in Sydney.

Sadly, after dinner, most of my time was dedicated to packing, and as an overpacker, it was not a fun task. However, it was worth it because now we’re in Cairns for spring break! I’m in awe that a three-hour flight has taken us into a humid, tropical land. There are so many exciting things I look forward to sharing that are going to happen this coming week.

So, Final Thoughts on Sydney?

I know I’m a broken record, but the time flew by. Sydney was a blast! As a non-city lover who had to live in Sydney (the struggle of a study abroad student), it was a pleasant experience. I loved the walkability and access to amazing food, the feasibility of public transportation—the Opal card that got reloaded each week was an added bonus—the amenities of our accommodation, and our proximity to pretty much everything we wanted to do.

If my stories over the past two months haven’t made it obvious, hopefully, the fact that talks of a roomie 10-year study abroad reunion in Sydney makes it clear that I’ll be back. I definitely need time to recover from the flight length. While the weather, beaches, and sunsets not happening until after 7 p.m.—sorry, people stateside—were incredible, my favorite aspect of Sydney was the people I’ve connected with and built memories with. The best part? They’re all coming home with me! Don’t worry—I’ll give a more detailed appreciation to all my roomies soon because, without them, this trip would not be as incredible as it has been.

Enjoy the long overdue collage! I have many many photos, but here’s a start…Stella and Maddie will not be safe from the camera in Singapore!

Stay tuned while I enjoy some R&R to prepare for the next two months of adventures!

Cheers!
