On Saturday we arrived in Auckland (after a slight hiccup with the flight), upon arriving in Auckland I unpacked all of my clothing as well memories that I made in Sydney. Now it is time to make new memories and experience an entirely different country. If my experience in Auckland is anything like my experience in Sydney, I am in for some fun and an awesome time. Although it took right up until the buzzer to be matched up with an internship, I am excited to start work and be able to experience the corporate environment in Auckland. I will be working at Apex Advice Group which is a financial services company that specializes in home loans, insurance and investments. I will be working mostly with their operations and marketing teams. I have no idea what to expect but I anticipate a great experience. My initial impressions of Auckland is that it is similar to Melbourne Australia. Our hotel is close to a very busy and lively harbor. The harbor is home to some massive yachts that are jaw dropping, one of the biggest yachts was over 100 meters long. While I will miss the larger group that I studied with in Sydney, I think the group going to Auckland will be a great time. Most of my travel hopes are to do different hikes and see all the beautiful geographical sites that New Zealand has to offer. Everyone that I have talked to that has been to New Zealand before or the few locals that I have talked to says that going to the South Island is a must. I also plan to visit some of the places where lord of the rings was filmed, I was unaware that all of the Lord of the Rings movies were filmed in New Zealand. Overall, I am excited by the opportunity to be in another country and experience a new Culture!
