As we spent our last weekend in Sydney, we tried to explore and experience Sydney as much as possible before leaving this Saturday. Last Saturday, we got tickets for a classical music concert at the iconic Sydney Opera House. I grew up playing clarinet in a church orchestra, so it has always been my dream to go to a show in the Opera House. The evening’s performance, Simone Young conducts Elgar & Vaughan Williams, was mesmerizing. The orchestra conducted by Young had violin, cello, clarinet, trumpet, and many other instruments filling the main Concert Hall, and it was truly a life-changing experience. The structures of the concert hall amplified the music, and it almost felt like the music was filling up the entire hall. During the intermission, we were also able to soak in the beautiful night view of Darling Harbour and Harbour Bridge. The concert lasted around two hours, then we ended the night with a short walk around the harbour.
On Monday, we made our way to Bondi Beach to buy some souvenirs for friends and family back home before we took off on the famous Bondi to Coogee coastal walk that follows along Sydney’s stunning coastline. On our way to Coogee, we walked past some of the smaller beaches like Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly, and Gordon’s Bay. Even though it wasn’t the best weather for a long walk, the unique view of different beaches and crashing waves made the walk a lot more enjoyable. After we reached Coogee Beach, we got ice cream and sat by the shore enjoying the view. It was a great way to soak in Sydney’s landscape one last time before we left this breathtaking city.
