Week 11 Blog-Gardens by the Bay and Sentosa Island

This past week in Singapore was rewarding and eye-opening, especially in terms of my internship experience. Thursday was a return to the office for basic training, where we dove deeper into the fundamentals of internal auditing. Even though we had a training session first day at work, this session clarified internal audit’s role in risk management and how it can improve business performance. I realized how critical internal audits are in identifying inefficiencies and ensuring compliance, which made me appreciate the work we had been doing for the past two weeks.

Friday was a particularly exciting day, as we wrapped up our two-week on-site audit. The closing meeting was the highlight of the week, my supervisor provided a comprehensive overview of the audit findings and recommendations for the company. Watching the team present their work to the client was inspiring and it was clear how much effort and attention to detail had gone into the audit process. It was also a great learning experience to see how professionals communicate their findings and reinforce the importance of clarity in business settings. After a productive week at work, Friday night, we visited one of Singapore’s most iconic sights: Marina Bay Sands. The view from the rooftop was breathtaking and seeing the city skyline at night was a moment I won’t forget.

With the long weekend ahead, we decided to take things at a slower pace. On Saturday, we returned to Newton Hawker Center for the second week in a row. I have been craving their wings and dumplings, and they didn’t disappoint. Sunday was spent exploring the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay. It was surreal to see in person what I had only seen in movies before. The sheer scale and beauty of the structures were amazing. It also made me reflect on how Singapore integrates nature into urban spaces so well. Monday, instead of heading to the office, we took a day trip to Sentosa Island. The highlight was definitely the Luge rides, which were a fun way to cap off the long weekend. I continue to be amazed by Singapore’s blend of modern and tradition, and I am excited for the remainder of my time here.
