Easter weekend in Aotearoa

Kia ora! This week I wanted to share a little bit about what it’s like being across the world for Easter. I’m not from a super religious family, we used to go to church a lot more than we do now, but it’s interesting to me to see how seriously holidays like Easter are taken here. Since they value work-life balance so much here, almost every store was closed besides essential shops like dairies (convenience stores) and many restaurants all weekend (and I got off work on Friday and Monday!) Even with so many things closed (and the rain almost […]

Week 5 in Singapore – Jonah Pachman

This week, I wrapped up some very important tasks at work. I moved forward with my progress on a newsletter that will be featured in company publications next week, which is very exciting. I am very proud of my work for this assignment, and hope that readers will appreciate my efforts. Given the achievements I reached during the week, it was super nice to have a long weekend.  Bintan Island On Friday, we all headed down to Bintan Island for the weekend. I was not aware of how beautiful and isolated the beaches were on this island. The resort had […]

Stella Chang: Singapore Week 5

The start of Week 5! It was the last week with Lauren’s family and the first week with Ariana’s mom and sister, so the week ended up being the trio of Alexa, Maddie, and me for most of it. Alexa has been serving as my weight trainer the past few days, and I finally convinced her to start working out with me in the mornings before work instead of at 7 p.m. After work, all I want to do is rot on the couch, so I’ve been loving the new schedule! On Tuesday, Lauren and her parents were so sweet […]

Family Visit

For this blog im a couple days late because I wanted to write about the last week and a half collecgtivly. These past couple of day my Mom and sister were able to make the trip over to Singapore. I had so much fun showing them around the city that weve been living in and having the chance to introduce them to all of my new friends.  My mom said I did a good job comparing Singapore to New York as at times it feels like all there is to do is shop and eat. I made sure throughout the […]

Asia Pacific Week 13- Korean BBQ, Museum Chill, Clarke Thrill

Ever wonder how they teach Thai roosters how to do art? Yeah, me neither. These are the type of questions I asked myself after leaving the National Gallery in Singapore. Good food for thought moment indeed. Although this week has been busy at work, I have continued to find new places and areas to explore. We have welcomed a new member to our tax team, meaning I am no longer one of the new people. Although two other people have joined the company since my arrival, this is the first time our team has welcomed a new colleague since the […]

Week 13

This past week I dug into my routine a little bit more, got more comfortable communiting around the city (without the assistance of google maps) and started to really become accustom with my path around the city. I have also developed pretty solid relationships with my coworkers and the days almost feel “regular” now. However I am always traveling around on the weekends either for travel or with my soccer team Bohemian FC. It is a great group of guys who come from all over. The club is sponsored by an Irish Pub so naturally a lot of the players […]
