week 14

Week 14 was another good week, though it was a short one.  This week we had Friday off as it was Good Friday which is a national holiday in Singapore.  As such we were lucky enough to go to Bintan which is an island in Indonesia.  Bintan is like Bali but bigger and is home to jungles and multiple resorts.  The resort we stayed at was called Nirwana, which is a family friendly resort on the north west end of the island. We got on a ferry in Singapore early on Friday.  The ferry was cool and it was great […]

Final Blog in Singapore – Matthew Lee

As we come towards the end of this trip, I wanted to use this final blog to highlight some of my favorite experiences during the program. Studying abroad in the Asia Pacific has opened my eyes to so many different cultures and amazing places on the other side of the world. Prior to this program, I had really only been to one place in the Asia-Pacific, Hong Kong. But during my time here, I have been able to see so many other countries, aside from Australia and Singapore, including New Zealand and Indonesia; and I still plan on travelling to […]

A Weekend in Bali and my Final Abroad Blog.

This last week I was able to see my parents for the first time in over 3 months. This visit was a much needed treat which made me miss home just a little less to be able to finish off this trip strong. As I mentioned in my last blog, me and my parents spent the weekend walking the F1 track and exploring Singapore. This weekend, my parents and I enjoyed a relaxing and amazing trip to Bali, with a notable trip to the island of Nusa Penida. The first day of our trip we took relaxing rest day which […]

Week 14 in Sydney

This past week in Sydney was full of live music and a little bit of brainpower. One of the highlights was catching an Australian surf rock band called Rum Jungle in concert. Their sound was laid-back yet punchy and created a coastal energy and indie sound. What stood out was how uniquely Australian their vibe was. There’s a rawness and casual confidence in Aussie surf rock that feels more relaxed than the polished edge often found in American indie or rock bands. It’s less about being flashy and more about capturing a mood — warm nights, salty air, and not […]

Week 14 Blog – Bintan Island

This week was yet another great week in the office, but an even better week outside of the office. From an amazing alumni event held on Wednesday, which gave me a great opportunity to speak with Bucknell alumni who are now based in Singapore, to a trip to Bintan Island for the weekend, this week was easily one of my favorites of my semester abroad. In this blog, I am excited to talk about my two favorite highlights of my Bintan experience.  On Friday morning, despite almost missing the bus due to me forgetting a handful of Indonesian cash I […]

Week 14 Blog

This week at my internship, I had the chance to participate in Power BI training–something I had been looking forward to since I first heard how we would incorporate data analytics into internal audit. The training mainly focused on how Power BI can be used in audit engagements, and it was amazing to see how efficiently we could sort and visualize using interactive dashboards. I am excited to keep learning and exploring this tool and hopefully apply it to upcoming projects. On Wednesday, I attended a Bucknell alumni event, which turned out to be one of the highlights of the […]
