This week at my internship was shorter than the rest, but it was a great week. I was assigned to gather files from the company’s loan database to report to PWC. This, along with doing the normal daily tasks that are expected of me. It was a great experience, learning how to use accounting software for basic accounting tasks. I even got to research the New Zealand laws on unclaimed money and create a policy for the company. Throughout my internship, all my coworkers were very nice to me, especially Daniel. Without asking, he gave me a list of different […]
Week 4 of my internship here in Auckland was productive. I did my normal morning tasks of reconciling accounts and journal entries and preparing invoices to be processed, but in the afternoons, I worked on going through the criminal watchlist and making the draft for the unclaimed money policy and I was able to finish both! My bosses were happy with my work and tomorrow I will be given a new task to work on. So far everyone on the team has been very friendly and helpful when teaching me new things. Even while performing the same tasks, I receive […]
This week marked the third week of my internship, and, like the previous ones, I was assigned new tasks, which gave me more responsibility and provided new opportunities to learn. I’ve also been helping Accounts Payable with checking invoices that are coming through, and regarding the work I did last week, I’m now working on making a policy for unclaimed money for the company. It’s not groundbreaking work but it is very interesting to see the things I used It is interesting to see the things I learned in class being used in actual accounting softwares. Other than that, I also had some fun and did some exploring this […]
My first week in New Zealand was a great week, to say the least, and I had a great time getting to know everyone at Instant Finance. On Tuesday, we even went out for a company lunch for a lady who was leaving on Maternity leave. I have noticed that the work-life culture here is a lot more relaxed than what I am used to in the US. So far, my tasks at work haven’t been too tough, but I’ve been learning a lot. I have begun to use accounting software for the first time, with one of my coworkers […]
