Week 9 – Spring Break in Cairns

This week we spent our spring break in Cairns. We did a couple more activities from the last week as a group. On Tuesday we went to a crocodile farm that also has a zoo. We rode on the swamp boat through their swamp and got to see our guide interact with some of the crocodiles. One jumped out to grab the meat and it got high! We also got to learn about how they farm the crocodiles, learn about snakes at the snake show, and watch somebody put his feet in the water with a crocodile and get chased […]

Week 8 – Goodbye Sydney, Hello Cairns

This week was another intense academic week. I had two papers due and a final exam to finish before leaving Sydney, and on top of that, I also had to pack up and get everything ready to go. Luckily, I was able to visit the Chinese market one more time before we left and get my nephew the souvenir I wanted to get for him. It was a koala plush with arms that could extend and retract. I also had an interview for my internship in New Zealand this week, and I got it! I’m excited to spend time working […]

Week 7 in Sydney

It’s sad to think about and hard to believe, but this week was our last full week in Sydney. Luckily, I was able to make sure I used the time wisely and did a couple of activities that were key events to my experience here in Sydney. The week started off with classes as usual, but it was a bit different from the rest. This week, my contemporary politics professor took us to the American Studies building at the University of Sydney, where she normally teaches. Australians are very interested in American history and politics. I learned that the University […]

Week 6 In Sydney

This week was one of the tougher weeks in terms of academic workload. I had to prepare for a midterm in my Operations Management class and a presentation in my Contemporary Politics class. I feel confident in how I did in both. I was pretty nervous about giving a presentation, but I think I did great. The presentation was on the history of an Asian dish, and my partner Tomy and I chose to talk about Pho. Pho is a dish that I have been eating back home in Harrisburg since I was a child, and it was really cool […]

Week 5 in Sydney

This week was the first week of my new classes. I had a good time getting to know my new professors. The classes have gone well so far, and I learned a lot about contemporary politics and management operations. In the middle of the week, I was able to take a trip to a new beach I hadn’t seen yet called Milk Beach. My friend got a new camera and he wanted to try it out so went for a little photoshoot. He got a lot of great pictures of the beach and the skyline and I asked him to […]

Week 4 in Sydney

The last week of our first block of classes has arrived! What that means for me is that most of the week was spent preparing for my final exam for my Global Management class and my final paper for my Aussie Life and Culture class. The good thing is that after all of this, we went on a trip to Melbourne! This was a great way to unwind after a busy week. On the first day in Melbourne, we started the day with a walking tour where we learned a lot about the city. One thing that amazed me was […]
