This wee, I was absolutely spoiled by Norma, Ariana’s lovely mother. On Tuesday, Ariana invited me to join her family for dinner. It was my first time at Marina Bay Sands, and I was in awe the entire time. As Ariana discovered, military time can be tricky; we ended up arriving for our reservation two hours early. But it worked out perfectly as we spent the extra time drinking and chatting. When we were finally seat at LAVO, Ariana’s sister Alexa enticed me to get a Shirley Temple instead of another cocktail. I ordered the special of the day: lasagna. […]
The start of Week 5! It was the last week with Lauren’s family and the first week with Ariana’s mom and sister, so the week ended up being the trio of Alexa, Maddie, and me for most of it. Alexa has been serving as my weight trainer the past few days, and I finally convinced her to start working out with me in the mornings before work instead of at 7 p.m. After work, all I want to do is rot on the couch, so I’ve been loving the new schedule! On Tuesday, Lauren and her parents were so sweet […]
This past week was a much-needed reset week, so there’s not a ton to report. On Wednesday, I got assigned a new project at work, which was a welcome change after three weeks of repetitive tasks. The new work is more research-based and involves Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, which has been super interesting so far as I’m actively involved in a current deal. Fast forward to Thursday, Ariana and I went to the highly anticipated Gracie Abrams concert, which was supposed to be “the best night of our lives.” It was such a different experience compared to U.S. concerts as […]
Week 3!! On Tuesday, after the infamous cake fiasco of last week, we finally got our well-deserved cake. Our beautiful Pilates princesses, Alexa and Ariana, slaved away during their class and came home with a gorgeous fudge cake. It had been a few days coming, so we were all thrilled to dig in. The rest of the workweek was fairly routine, but as I continue to gain the trust of my bosses, some of my work has become confidential, so now’s a perfect time to practice my restraint. Friday was a big day. With some peer pressure from our new […]
My first week in Singapore has flown by, but oh my gosh, are the days looooong. I just started the show Severance, and my life literally feels like that. The workday ends, and after dinner, it’s basically time to go to bed, not because it’s late, but because I’m exhausted. Luckily, my boss has shortened my workday from 9-6 to 9-5, which made the latter half of the workweek more manageable. My nights feel substantially longer. On Wednesday, my bosses, Alex and Lucy, took me to lunch and bought me a drink! I felt like I was back in Dublin […]
