Week 3 in New Zealand

This week marked the third week of my internship, and, like the previous ones, I was assigned new tasks, which gave me more responsibility and provided new opportunities to learn. Last week, the CFO, the man directly in charge of the accounting department, asked me if there were any other parts of the company that I would like to gain experience in. I told him that I was interested in learning more about the legal and compliance department, so this week I was able to do some work with them. On my first day working with them, I went to […]

Graney- Week 3 in New Zealand

My third week in New Zealand was probably the calmest so far, but still brought me a lot of adventure! During the first few days of the week, I finished my first project in my internship and began to pivot to learning how to copyright blogs with search engine optimized content to increase the amount of people visiting the client’s website. I was introduced to a software platform that helped me understand the terms that Google looks for and feel as though I have a much stronger understanding of digital marketing as a result. Outside of work, I got back […]

Weekend In Queenstown

This past weekend I got the chance to spend a weekend with waa005. It was an incredible experience with some breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and other natural features. A short 2 hour flight from Auckland, I arrived to the town of around 52,000 residents. Immediately after stepping out of the airplane, you are greeted with a huge mountain range surrounding the valley where the airport is located. Our Airbnb was a short 15 minute ride from the airport and luckily Will and I were able to find an awesome car rental curiously of YES rentals. While driving on […]

SnackaChangi, Whittakers, Shapes

One thing about me is I love to eat. I guess you could call me a foodie. It has been quite jarring to go to the grocery store and see mostly unfamiliar brands. I was able to track down some mini packs of Goldfish at Woolworth’s the other day and nearly cried (my favorite snack at home). When I was asked to do a big snack order for the team at work one day, I was completely lost. However, asking a coworker for help sparked a fun, lively conversation about the best NZ snack brands and got us talking about […]

Asia Pacific Week 11- The Ho Chi Minh Experience

Sometimes, it is hard to fathom how things work until we see it for ourselves. This weekend, I planned a trip (just a week in advance) to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam, where I learned much about the culture, government, and people. I also have started getting into a good routine after a slow recovery from my sore throat. There is no better way to start one’s day than a pre-work gym session. The only minor pitfall I have discovered is that it is still dark until several minutes after 7 am, making it hard to get a […]

Studying Abroad in Singapore: Week 11

This week at work I continued to work on some of the same projects from last week. More excitingly, I got to go on a site visit to one of the properties the team is working on. Penelope and I will be continuously visiting the site to monitor the progress of the work being done. The property is one of Singapore’s famous black and white houses from the early 1900’s. They are historically significant protected properties so, there can be no alterations to the exterior and there are a lot of restrictions when remodeling the inside as well. Since it […]
