Stella Chang: Singapore Week 3

Week 3!! On Tuesday, after the infamous cake fiasco of last week, we finally got our well-deserved cake. Our beautiful Pilates princesses, Alexa and Ariana, slaved away during their class and came home with a gorgeous fudge cake. It had been a few days coming, so we were all thrilled to dig in. The rest of the workweek was fairly routine, but as I continue to gain the trust of my bosses, some of my work has become confidential, so now’s a perfect time to practice my restraint. Friday was a big day. With some peer pressure from our new […]

Salamat Hari Raya and an Eventful Weekend

The beginning of the week started off slow. Monday I had to finish a huge data project for work that started mid day on Friday. The rest of the week was filled with revising comments and doing more market research about trading apps. The real fun started on Friday. First, I see the hype behind people getting excited for Friday after work. After a stressful week all I can think about is relaxing. To add onto that it was a long weekend with Monday off. Friday we crossed off an item on the bucket list and headed down to Marina […]

Navigating A Sea of Knowledge

Last weekend, our group got the chance to receive a cultural tour around Singapore, visiting three distinct ethnic enclaves: Little India, Chinatown, and the Malay Heritage Town. One of the most fascinating aspects of the tour was learning how Singapore prioritizes cultural preservation. Rather than allowing complete redevelopment, the government only permits restoration renovations in these heritage areas, ensuring that the cultural essence remains intact for future generations. It came as a surprise because in America, many places get destroyed to build business without any regard to their cultural significance. During the tour, we explored vibrant local markets filled with […]

Holi(day) in Bali

I have never been so happy to have a day off than I was today. This week has left me absolutely spent. To start it off, I met the CEO of the company, since Bianca has joined me in the office now too. I was surprised by his ability to start his own company at such a young age, which is an inspiration. He also mentioned that one of their American employees will be joining us for the company trip whom I can meet, and he said if we do well enough he hopes to start a branch in America […]

Week 2 In New Zealand

This week was another great week at my internship. I learned how to make journal entries and reconcile ledgers in Netsuite. I’ve also been helping Accounts Payable with checking invoices that are coming through, and regarding the work I did last week, I’m now working on making a policy for unclaimed money for the company. It’s not groundbreaking work but it is very interesting to see the things I used It is interesting to see the things I learned in class being used in actual accounting softwares. Other than that, I also had some fun and did some exploring this […]

Week 3 in Singapore – Matthew Lee

This weekend, I took a trip to Bali, Indonesia, which was my first time travelling outside of Singapore in Southeast Asia. Bali was absolutely beautiful, filled with beaches and temples. However, Bali was a clear black and white difference from Singapore. The streets of Bali were flooded with reckless car and motorcycle drivers and most of the houses were slums. But the water at the beaches was some of the clearest water I have ever seen. During our stay, the country of Indonesia was observing the holiday, Nyepi, which is the Indonesian Day of Silence. Nyepi is a holiday that […]
