Studying Abroad in Singapore Week 13

This week at work on some of the projects from previous weeks. Then we worked on collecting some new contacts for tenders, and worked on contracts for clients. We also continued working on paperwork for some ongoing projects.  On Tuesday, Stella and I treated ourselves to a special lunch. We went to an Italian place near our work and got a mushroom and sausage pizza. It was good, but I will say nothing compares to Pizza in America. It is definitely one of things I am looking forward to when returning.  Friday night a few of us went out for […]

Asia Pacific Week 14- Beyond the Brochure

Howdy friends, family, students, professors, and all other curious readers! I just completed my 14th week in the Asia Pacific and have only T-20 days left before our flight home. Soon, I will be back in my own bed, enjoying the third season in a row of heat as we return for Memorial Day celebrations. To kick things off, I nearly missed my time slot to register for classes Monday night. Thankfully, I remembered just in time while talking to Tomy in the kitchen that evening. I should make it so my phone buzzes for important events like that, but […]

Week 14: Bintan

Last week, we got the chance to go to Bintan, one of the islands in Indonesia. It was a very beautiful island, with very similar heat to Singapore but without the extreme humidity. The resort itself was even more astonishing, as it felt like it was a separate area for all the guests. Only problem I had with my weekend was that I had no service there, which I forgot to tell my mom about as she called me 5 times over the weekend. Friday was just a relaxing day as I went out with Tomy and Matt to the […]

Hot and Tan In Indonesia

Ok here we go again. Last blog of my time here on my journey abroad. Looking back there were so many things I’ve experienced. From different cultures, to food, to places. Its kind of insane to think back on what I’ve done. This week started off hot…literally. Our air conditioning break. If I head a quarter for every time my air conditioning broke this abroad trip, I would have 2, which odd. I don’t know just some food for thought. Throughout the week work was work. The real things to look forward to was the trip to Bintan and the […]

Stella Chang: Singapore Week 6

This wee, I was absolutely spoiled by Norma, Ariana’s lovely mother. On Tuesday, Ariana invited me to join her family for dinner. It was my first time at Marina Bay Sands, and I was in awe the entire time. As Ariana discovered, military time can be tricky; we ended up arriving for our reservation two hours early. But it worked out perfectly as we spent the extra time drinking and chatting. When we were finally seat at LAVO, Ariana’s sister Alexa enticed me to get a Shirley Temple instead of another cocktail. I ordered the special of the day: lasagna. […]

Week 14 in Asia Pacific

Back on track with the same agenda. A new week brought fresh attractions and places to explore. With so many activities packed in, writing each blog entry flows easily. Starting with the least exciting part, work is moving along steadily. I continue completing tasks regularly. The real highlight, though, has been lunch breaks with my colleagues, who take me to a new spot almost every day. I’ve been able to try a wide variety of Asian cuisines, and this week’s standout was Vietnam’s famous dish pho, a flavorful beef noodle soup served with fresh herbs and garnishes. On Thursday, a […]
